Default 1999 Monte Carlo spark plugs - 05-28-2005 , 02:11 AM

I'm trying to decide if I should replace the spark plugs in my 1999 Monte
Carlo Z34 on my own or now.

Can someone tell me the easiest way to get at the back plugs???? Keeping in
mind I don't have a hydrolic car lift.

Thanks

You either have to roll the engine or on some GM vehicles if you cannot get
them through the top, you can access them through the passengers side wheel
well (as on GM mini vans). On the Malibu V6 3.1 removing the alternator
allows you to reach the rear plugs and leads.

On some GM Front drive cars you remove the engine strut and undo the exhaust
pipe at the rear and you can tilt the engine slightly forward to get at the
back plugs easier. Take a look through the passenger side wheel well, you
can sometimes reach the back plugs through there.
If you have a 1999 car you should have changed the plugs a couple of year
ago. Make sure that you coat the threads of the new plugs with anti-seize
before you install them.

If you have any doubt about changing the spark plugs on your car you should
leave it to a Tech.
