Does anyone know what causes the surging with these cars when hitting a
small incline or going up hill out on the highway ? I've changed plugs and
wires, no help. The car runs fine, all but this one little problem.

I don't know if this is a common issue with these cars, but my 1998 Malibu
had the exact same symptons when the coil packs needed to be replaced. The
engine light on my car came on and when I had the computer scanned, I had a
misfire on 3 out of 6 cylinders. All 3 of the coil packs had noticeable
cracks in the plastic, leading me to believe moisture was causing the coils
to misfire. When the misifiring got really severe, the engine light started
flashing and the car would stumble and barely run.
