Default 2001 Chevy Malibu Won’t Start - 06-15-2005 , 07:36 PM

Last time I drove it, Saturday, all was well - no problems. The next
day, it won’t start. It cranks fine, it has spark (pulled plug #2),
and there appears to be gas getting to the cylinder. I’ve checked the
fuses, and relays. I performed the "Theft System Reset" procedure.
It still doesn’t start.

I bought it used, 3 1/2 years ago. Don’t have the original keys.
Don’t know if it uses a keyless entry fob or not. Replaced the
factory cassette/radio at Christmas with a new Clarion CD player.

Can I get the error diagnostice codes, somehow, to try and determine
what the cause is? I’ve read of several possible causes, but don’t
want to "shotgun" the repair if I don’t have to.

In the past, I’ve had v-e-r-y intermittent problems with it not
starting on the first try; or starting then dying after the first try.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Sounds like you've got an iffy ignition switch. This car doesn't use coded
keys (mine doesn't). I've still got the stock CD player, can't help you
there. Have heard urban legend that the codes won't show up without the
stock deck, but I doubt it. You will lose the warning chimes though (low
fuel/high temp/doors etc.)
