Default 2002 Malibu Blinker Problem - 06-13-2005 , 11:51 AM

I'm not sure what is wrong but every once in awhile both blinkers quit
working and then a couple minutes to more later they start working again.
Although sometime restarting the car doesn't even make them work again.
I've checked the fuse but it's not that. Any ideas on what else to check?
Could it be a loose wire somewhere?

I believe there is a new recall concerning blinkers. call your local chevy
dealer and they should be able to tell you more about it.

I called and the only recall they have for my year at the moment is the
headlights although I've looked online and seen some complaints on it. It
seems to be a common problem with the previous two models. Thanks for
responding!!

A previous post for a similar problem pointed to the 4-way flasher (Hazard)
switch as the culprit, see below

Subject: Turn Signal -1999 Malibu

In the weekend when I used my turn signal to change lanes a weird
thing started to happen - the signal continued clicking for a few
seconds
after I turned it off. The lights were not flashing only the clicking
sound. Anyone had this problem before? I would appreciate any help -
does anyone know where the flasher unit is located in these cars?

The Hazard switch needs to be replaced. The turn signal flasher and
the
Hazard flasher is located in the Hazard switch. If your turn signals
stop
blinking, just push slightly on the hazard swtich and they might start
working again. Thats how you know its the flasher unit thats bad.
Other than
that, the bulbs and sockets tend to go bad. It's not fun to change it
either.

It is your hazzard switch...Corrosion gets into it causing it to
short...Very common problem..
Just replace the hazzard swtch and you will be fine....
