Default 2003 Malibu Trunk Light - 06-12-2006 , 01:44 PM

My 2003, 4-door, Malibu trunk light does not go on when the trunk is opened.
I Checked/replaced bulb -no good. Need ele. schematic & wiring harness
diagram for trunk to trace the problem. Any suggestions will be
appreciated.

lab-rat,

Thanks for the response. Sincere of course.

I don't have the shop manual and the owner's manual does not identify which
fuse services the trunk light. All other electrical components seem to
function - electric trunk lock, interior lights, accessories, etc.

I can't locate the switch. But in the lid, next to the trunk electric
release module there is unused female connector with blue and black lead
wires. Is it possible that lid latch mechanism contains the switch or is it
an independent mercury switch, perhaps missing ( a while back I had to
repair the latch mechanism which was damaged when a "rod" got jammed in the
catch).

Hi to all,
No help from lab-rat; see below. Any help which would shed light on my
problem would be greatly appreciated. I am still in the dark in my trunk.

Orange wire to light is the hot, orn/black is the ground and is switched by
the latch switch.
Fuse for trunk light is in the L side fuse block.
Check for power to the light so you know if it's supply or a grounding
issue.

Since you had a latch issue my moneys on the prob. being there..........

$25 will get you a 1yr subscription to Alldata for your car with more info
than you'll ever need.
