2009 Malibu LTZ V-6 experience so far -

I am now at 1998 miles into my new Malibu ownership. I have issues with the
concept that this car is as good as the Toyota I traded in (2004 Corolla
LE). First, the OnStar doesn't work. Going through the phone help,
pressing the emergency button, did not fix the issue. I bought this car
from a fleet buying service and they got it from a dealership located in a
City 100 miles away, and the OnStar help person said I have to take it to
them directly to that dealership to get it fixed. I have local dealerships
here, but no, can't take it there. Has to be the one 100 miles away.
Then, after parking my car on a hill, one morning at 5:30 AM and unloading
my laptop from the back seat, a very large tanker truck goes by me and I
lose my balance. I lean into the left quarter panel with my rear (Yes, it
is wide) and I hear a thunk, and feel the metal give way. (I was no more
than 3 inches from the side of the car when this happened.) And, sure
enough, I dented the car right along the crease there. The cost to fully
repair....$1000.00 as estimated by a body shop. There is no way that the
lean into the car should have dented any vehicle, unless it was made with a
tin foil 1 ml thicker than heavy duty tin foil. (I did get it fixed by one
of the "Paintless dent repair" people and it came back to 99% of new for
$100.)
Now, I get a recall notice telling me that the car has, or may have a
problem remaining in park.
Less than 2K miles, 3 problems. I have never experienced this with Toyota,
Honda, or even Saturn (older ones). GM is saying their cars are better than
they were in the past and are equal or better than the imports. I got this
on the recommendation of Consumer Reports. I am now a person that cannot
recommend the GM line or Consumer Reports evaluations. |
