HI

My beloved malibu has a burnt out front head light. I bought a brand
spakin new bulb, but I cant for the llife of me figure out how to
install it. I figure its best to first remove the burnt out bulb.

How do I access the bulbs in a 99 malibu? I lost my manual!

Headlamp Replacement

Removal Procedure

Caution
Before servicing any electrical component, the ignition key must be in the
OFF or LOCK position and all electrical loads must be OFF, unless instructed
otherwise in these procedures. If a tool or equipment could easily come in
contact with a live exposed electrical terminal, also disconnect the
negative battery cable. Failure to follow these precautions may cause
personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.


Disconnect the negative battery cable.
Remove the splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Wheelhouse in
Body Front End.
Pull the 2 release tabs (1) upward in order to release the headlamp assembly
(2).
Disconnect the electrical connectors and the bulb socket from the headlamp
assembly.

Installation Procedure

Connect the electrical connectors and the bulb socket to the headlamp
assembly. Install the headlamp assembly to the vehicle body.
Push down on the 2 release tabs in order to install the headlamp assembly
(2).
Install the splash shield. Refer to Splash Shield Replacement - Wheelhouse
in Body Front End.
Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Cable in Engine
Electrical.
