Default AM/FM Radio Reception - 05-19-2004 , 10:28 AM

My reception used to be great, now it stinks. I heard that there is a wire
that often loses conection that causes decreased reception. Does anyone
know anyting about this?

There is a connector for the antenna lead under the right side kick pannel/
under dash area. this connector comes lose or comes appart from the
passenger kicking on the carpet or hush pannel. if you pull the hush
pannel off from under the passanger side dash you should see the
connector.

Can also be a loose cable connection, If you look under the carpet on the
drivers side you'll find the antenna cable. Push it back together and tape
it.

Hope this helps.

maintence....a/c fan resistor, which was a huge step for me. What does
the connection look like?

I had this same problem. If you open the passenger side door, the
connection is under the carpet under the plastic kick pannel on the floor.
The kick panel I am talking about is located on the floor. It holds the
carpet down inside the door opening. If you are sitting in the passenger
seat, to find the connection, all you have to do is reach down to the
floor with your right hand at about the location of your right knee and it
is going to be under that panel on the floor by the door. I hope this
helps. The connection is a male-female connection and it can easily come
apart if the passenger puts there foot in the wrong spot. Anyway, this is
where I found the problem in my 1998 Malibu. Good luck

Many times that connector will get corroaded. Clean with small wire brush.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I've been driving around for months,
putting up with lousy or non-existent reception. I just found this
website and immediately found the solution to my problem. Five minutes
later, my radio works like new. You probably saved me at least $100 that
I might have spent at the rip-off Chevy dealer.
