Default CD Player Err Message - 06-09-2006 , 10:22 PM

Hi!

The single CD player (Delco) in my 1998 Malibu is acting up. When I put
in a CD (tried several), it tries to read the data but gives me an Err
message then spits out my CD. This first happened while I was driving
with a CD playing when I hit a bumpy spot. The track skipped, played
for a few seconds, then it stopped altogether and spit the CD out.

The manual said that if this happens that I should wait an hour before
trying again since it could be heat or humidity (and yeah, I was
driving in Mississippi). But it's still giving me the Err message. I
also tried to put the CD in, turn off the power so I could turn it on
with the CD in it, but it still ejects the CD before I can turn it on.
Any advice? Should I get a CD cleaner?

Thanks,
Sue

Same thing happened on my '05 Malibu LS. Turned out I needed a new
head unit. Now, it's fine.
