I have a 2006 LT with the 3.5L V6. The manual says to add 4 quarts of oil, but when i added that it didnt register on the dipstick. So i added another half quart bringing it within range of the dipstick. Is this right, or am i running with too much oil now? |

The manual says to add 4 quarts of oil, but when i added that it didnt register on the dipstick. So i added another half quart bringing it within range of the dipstick. Is this right, or am i running with too much oil now? We have a '06 Malibu LT with the 3.5L angine. Oil change is in the 4.5 to 5 litre range. We always start with 4 litres, and keep adding until we hit the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. This way we know it is the proper amount. We learned this from a mechanic in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada when we had our oil changed while on vacation. When asked why he did this, he said that it ensured that the crankcase was at the right level for every vehicle that went out of his shop. Works good for us! David |
