Alrighty. 2001 LS is driving me crazy with this noise. From about
20mph to 45mph I hear a distinct (but not feel) a cyclical rub coming
from the front (dare I say right side only). Fresh rotors and pads,
still there. New tires up front and still there. Even put on the
winter tires to compare...still there. It is not constant noise, it is
like there's a bad spot on the tire. But there isn't. The car drives
shake-free and the noise disappears (probably due to wind noise) at 60
mph but a shake is introduced at 75mph.
Sound like the hubs need replacing? These parts aren't cheap, ideas
invited.

Jack your car up, support it on safety stands.
Take the wheel off.
With the car in neutral, slowly spin the hub. Does it make any noises?
hold the hub in your hand, without turning it, move it side to side, up and
down.... does it move?

If yes, then you have a problem with the hub.

If no, take your car to a shop, have them check for a tire out of balance.

If none of those.... go to a shop, pay them the money to diagnose it

Do you have hubcaps on? Take 'em off and try.
Lift wheel up and see if there's a bunch of play, indicating front end
problem, tie rods.

- both sets of wheels were balanced this week just for this.
- aluminum wheels. no dings/dents etc.

I'll jack her up pull the wheels, tighen up the nuts to snug the rotor
and check for play etc., but I'm sitting here thinking Bu's have a
nasty tendency to wear the inboard pads faster than the
outboards...wondering if Mr. Caliper went funky. I'll let you know.
