Will a 2001 Malibu with a 3.1 engine pull a light pop up trailer? The info on trailer hitches seems to suggest by lack of reference, that the Malibu is not to pull trialers. Are there any guide lines on the weigh trailer a Malibu will pull? How robust are the auto transmissions on the 2001 Malibu's? It can.... sort of If you are buying new, go lightweight. Also get one that has trailer brakes.. Buy the most robust hitch that they make for that model. When driving, take it easy. Have a Transmission Oil cooler installed between the outlet of the transmission and the inlet to the cooler in the radiator. Any transmission can take it, it just depends on the maintainance.
