my malibu is halting at 50mph

i have a 2001 malibu v6 3.1 engina and when i reach 50 mph it starts
halting and wont let me accel? any suggestions

Could be caused by a partially stopped-up fuel filter which does not allow

enough fuel to pass for higher speeds. Also check for any trouble codes from
the computer. Your local auto parts store should be able to do that for you.
