I have a '00 malibu with just over 200k on it. My check engine light came on and along with that, my car deveolps no power and uses alot more fuel then usual. I'm thinking i need to replace one, or both O2 sensors, since I'm attributing the problems to bad mixture control due to a shot O2 sensor. sound reasonable? where are the seonsors located? You should have someone read the trouble code(s) to find out what the problem is, rather than just start replacing parts. I do not know exactly where the sensors are but they are usually pretty obvious. A common problem is getting them to unscrew; use lots of penetrating oil over a period of several days if you can. Also be sure you have a properly fitting socket wrench. Don Young |
