Default radio problem with 2001 malibu - 05-01-2005 , 10:28 AM

I have a strange problem with the radio in my Malibu. It will only
play when left in the sun for a while. It will not play at night. I
have replaced the factory radio and still same problem. I assume it
has something to do with the auto light sensor for the day and
nighttime running lights. Does anyone have any suggestions? I am about
to lose my mind!

Bring it in to the dealer and get the senser replaced

i would NEVER keep a domestic factory car radio or stereo in any of my
rides (so it doesn’t happen on my 2001 Malibu V6
)I have Sony, Pioneer, rockford fosgate, Kenwood , JVC and a bunch of
some other stuff in alla my rides.

when you say it "doesn't play" - do you get static, or no sound at all?
I had an antenna lead break on my 2000 Malibu, which was corrected at
MASS in Richmond Hill (they are the licenced GM factory stereo techs)
for about $40...if it's a similar problem that you're having, perhaps
the heat of the sun is expanding the connection just enough to make the
reception clear?
