On my 07 Malibu, the radio seems to be going crazy. at times the
volume seems to just leap to top volume without touching any of the
controls. I was just wondering if any of you have any similar
problems with the radios on the newer cars.

Does your radio have the "auto Volume" feature? This feature will
automatically raise the volume to compensate for road noise. Typically it
only increases small amounts to keep the volume at a listening level. It
could be your radio has an issue and is over compensating.
You can normally turn that feature off by going into the radio menu. Some
even have an adjustment for high volume.
