Chevy has bad brakes and calibers. I bought my car with 32,939 miles and the
brakes squeak and they had a bad sound, a loud roar sound when i put on the
brakes..i took the car to the dealer to look at the brakes and nothing wrong
with them...Chevy has cheap brakes.
I have 48,900 miles now and the rotars are sounding worse, but nothing i can
do right now to them. I don't know anything about the slider pins.
Call your dealer.

Actually that sound is probably the tires rather than the brakes. The
squeak is quite possibly the brakes which can usually be dealt with by
putting anti-squeal compound on the back of the pads, but the roar has
almost always been IMHO the tires making the sound rather than the brakes.

The sound that i'm talking about is definately the sliders ,,,had the
problem in the past and had GM lube them while it was up for a oil change
,, but now it's out of warranty and i'll be doing more maint. on it
myself. It's just that it's been so long since i've serviced the brakes
on my own that i can't remember what to use to lube them and what not to
use.

Use caution, and be sure to use a high-temperature lubricant.
The brakes convert all of the energy of the car moving into heat, and most
lubricants burn at this temperature. The mixture of grease and ash could
cause the calipers to seize and not slide. This would result in damage to
the inside pad and rotor.

Fortunately, our chevys, ranging from 150,000 km to 260,000 have given us
excellent brake service.
The 98 Lumina went 190,000 km before needing pads.
Good luck!
