I have a 1999 malibu that i bought in 2002 with 64 000 km on it. Body inside and out in great shape but it is just off warranty. It is now about 10 000 km later and the engine is blown. I was on holidays when it went. A loud ticking sound. I had to have it towed 90 miles to back home and had to borrow my parents truck while we decided what to do. Took it to a garage and he pulled the engine. pulled the pan. Saw the problem. Called me and I talked to the used car salesman who sold it to me. We called GM Canada and the woman said that we should take it to an authorized dealer and they would run some tests and determine if it was a factory defect or lack of maintenance. We have the records to show it was kept up. GM and the shop we took it to are now backpedaling and saying that the engine was taken out and they won't talk to us. The head of parts for the province is hiding behind the dealer and the dealer won't give us his number. We are checking with gm to see if they can find the tape that they sometimes make of the conversations, but what do you think the chances of that happening are? 74 000 km and the engine is gone. Obviously defective from the factory. GM stand behind your product. In my opinion, Janzen Motors of Carman, Manitoba are a bunch that you don't want to deal with. When it is in their best interest or of the customer, look out. |
