I'm not sure if the newer Malibus have the same taillight setup as the older
'97-99 Malibus, but if they do, you will need a converter to split the
signal light signal from the brake light/signal light wire. I forget the
exact name of the module, but it is either a 2 wire to 3 wire converter, or
just the opposite. It has to do with the fact that the signal light and
brake light both use the same wire and this signal has to be split for the
trailer connector to work properly. I bought mine at the Uhaul dealer for
around $25 when I found a used hitch for my 1998.

If you need more info, I can double check on the exact name of this module
if you want to email me. A google search may also help you out.

Good luck

Mine is the simple one. Colour of trailer harness is the colour of wire on
the car.

Brake and turn signal on same wire.
