i have a 1999 silverado 246k miles, but everytime i turn in either
direction, the steering groans bad, like the steering wheel is rubbing
on something, i was moving the wheel and feeling the steering shaft
underneath the dash, and i feel the groan in there to. it is
definately not the power steering pump, no squeal at all....any
thoughts? |
Groaning can be caused by air in the PS system. Does the PS fluid
look at all foamy or milky color? It might also be the belt even
though it's not a squeal. Spray some water on the belt and then
immediately try turning the wheel and see if that changes the sound.
