Default sticking windows - 07-11-2003 , 06:16 PM

Hi,
I bought a new 300M about 2 months ago. I like it a lot. I think for
the money its the best deal on the road. But, whats the deal with the
sticking windows and how do you fix it? I rented a new Intrepid in
LVegas and it did the same thing. When you let the window down It sounds
like it is sticking to the weather stripping. How am I supposed to
impress some body when It makes that noise.

Common solutions include a good cleaning of the rubber seals and the windows
where they meet and depending on who believe either a blast of lubricant
like silicon spray or a dry talcum powder. Also using the windows on a
regular basis keeps them from getting stuck. Hot weather has a bad effect on
them as well.

I have a 94 Duster that does same thing, try waxing and buffing off both sides
of the windows, or apply that Rain-x stuff for windshields to them. Good
chance it will make it quit. Saw ads for 300ms for around 23K, man that IS a
good deal.

What makes you think anybody would be impressed by a 300M, even
it didn't make noise?

Some Toyota's are doing the same thing. You will probably need new
weatherstripping unless the problem goes away permanently from a
cleaning of the junk residue left on the glass by the
weatherstripping.

300M's,Concorde,Intrepid all of the same platform have this condition,
They all have the same design and the weatherstrips have to be kept
clean, and more importantly, If you notice, you get a destinct "black
line" on the inside edges of all the windows...and this is when your
problem is more persistant. This must be kept clean periodically and
the windows used frequently, if not just to roll it down then up again
to keep it loose. This will help the long term life of your window
motors and regulators. I've seen the costly repairs that a customer has
to spend because the windows/weatherstrips are not maintained.

Polish the side windows with a polymer like NuFinish. It
will allow water to run off better and stop squeaks as well.
