Default Escort door lock - 10-02-2006 , 10:41 AM

A friend of mine has had his 1969 Escort broken into (not what I would call
a classic, but he is happy with it!). They didn't take the car, or steal
anything from it, but they did wreck the door lock.

His insurance company has told him that they would write the car off rather
than repair it if he submits a claim, but his local garage is happy to
replace the lock *if* he can find a replacement lock to fit.

Does anyone know a source of supply for an Escort MkII door lock?

Jim

Well it's actualyl a MK1. PLenty of them on Ebay and there's plenty of
specialists in the back of Classic Ford Magazine.

Look up GS Escorts in Widnes.

The phone number (they're the people who took over Ian Harwoods) used to be
0151 422 8333, should still be,.

Yes, but my fingers hit the wrong key. It should have said 1989.

Which would make it a MkIV.

Sure you don't mean 1979?

So it's actually a MK4. Front wheel drive hatchback?

I will have to ask him. All he told me when we met up for a pint was that
it was a "G reg, so 1989-1990, MkII". I haven't actually seen the car, and
I am not knowledgeable about Fords, so if he got something wrong I would not
have spotted it.
He must have the registration document at home, so I will ask him what it
says. But I probably won't see him until next week, so don't expect an
instant answer.

Jim

Ah. A Mk I in half reasonable condition wouldn't be written off for the
sake of a lock. They're very much on the up, price wise.
