In news:4554be75 (AT) 212 (DOT) 67.96.135,

Ken (kj987 (AT) googlemail (DOT) com) gurgled happily, sounding much like they
were saying :

Its never worth while patching an old car, as it is always going to
need far more welding the next year, unless the work has been done
100% correctly, which 9 times out of ten will cost more than the
cars worth!

You really truly are a clueless fucknugget.

No someone that actually did car resto work for 12 years, before
having to give up for health reasons!

I wonder how long you have been doing this type of work?

Or are you just another fuckwit who enjoys parting thier arse cheeks,
and posting the results here?
I had a stretch Cadillac Fleetwood welded *today*[1]. Two sections of floor
around 4ft long by 8inches wide, both sides, old rust cut out, sections made
to fit, welded in, dressed, painted, sealed and schultzed - £350 for the
full job including stripping the interior / refitting and valeting the
interior.

It's now stronger and better welded than it was when it was originally
stretched and is unlikely to rust in the next 10 years.

[1] Whole job has taken 2 days from beginning to end, and is exquisitely
done, best bit of welding I've seen in a long time, more like a floorpan
restoration than just an MOT job.

Doesn't he always. He can't answer the fact that he's a washed up
failure without either more lies or unfounded abuse.

How can that much rust not see a torch? Even some bird poop gas weld on
a bit of old road sign would have been stronger than pop rivetted copper
sheet surely?

Simple. No MOT-equivalent...

Now go and say several thank-yous to your nearest MOT man.

Oh I've always spent money on getting welding sorted before the MOT.
I've even in the past been surprised when what I thought were going to
be fails scraped through. So much that I had told my "welder mate" I
would be if he wasn't busy, then been surprised that they past.

Shame his workshop burned down taking three local businesses with it.
Don't know if he has moved and setup else where or given up.
He lost a two post lift, all the general tools he used for the general
mechanicing he did, a very big looking Cebora MIG, and very large
compressor, or the spraying gear for when he was doing proper rather
thank "MOT pass" standard work.

Seems like he was another person just like you, who doesnt appear to have
been able to do his job!

Nope. There was an accident with the furnace fire. It heated his unit.
It was kept as coals 24/7 because it took most of the day to get going.
He used logs to burn. A log that wasn't as far down as he thought
cracked and spat a chunk out onto a car seat that was out while the
floor pan was being repaired. He was at home and got a call from a
customer at the snooker club across the road. By the time he got there
it was too far ablaze to do anything with. And the most reasonable
priced, hardest workest, and honest welder I know lost everything he
had. I've know a few cowboys, and I've known some guys who will do spot
on jobs but charge the earth. Mick did strong jobs. Not always pretty
but if that wasn't visible it didn't matter. And he always cut back to
good metal and he always told you if anything else was needing doing and
he always added back to hidden braces/webs if they had corroded too.
Even if it made more work for him and he had quoted to fix it without
the extra. He would stick a bit more on, but not enough for the extra
time.

When a £50 job became nearly all evening from 5PM until 11pm (he worked
all day and wpuld stay open for punter out of normal hours), because he
found a structural internal section gone too, instead a simple buttweld
outer sill patch, the job only went to £70 for 6 hours work.

I really hope he got things sorted with a new unit somewhere.

Coming from someone who cant even hold down a job as a keyboard monkey, its
rather amusing that such a clueless fuckwit has the audacity to attempt to
rip the piss out of others!

I've got an excellent tame welder in Widnes if that's any use to you.

I'm fine ATM, the Octi is good for a few years yet, bless VW and their
anti corrosion promises. I'll have sold it and bought some unsuitable by
the time it needs sorting out.

But who is it anyway?

Sounds like he'd have done better to charge a little more, to cover the
cost of insurance...
