Default Rover P6 rear seatbelt mounts - 07-30-2007 , 03:25 AM

I read somewhere that every Rover P6 had rear seatbelt mounts
incorporated from new. Anyone know if this is true and if so, where they
are? While I haven't pulled out every bit of trim, I've had a look
around mine (1971 2000TC) and can't find any.

Take the rear seat [1] (and sound insulation pads) out and the rear
parcel shelf trim and you should find them.

[1] squabs lift out whilst the seat back has a couple of self tapping
screws at the bottom and then lifts off 'hooks' at the top IIRC.

Thanks Jerry. I'd lifted out the squabs and pulled back the insulation,
but nothing was revealed, so started doubting there were any fitted.
I'll try removing the seat back then - didn't realise that was so easy.

My 1969 P6 does not appear to have any either.

Not sure where they all are, but I remember cutting some out when fitting
stereo speakers to the rear parcel shelf...

I vaguely remember them being under the parcel shelf on mine., I think the
lower ones are somewhere really easy to access, like under the petrol
tank...

I found 'em!
After putting off the job for months, it turned out to be a doddle.
The rear parcel shelf has one either end with the stiffening board and
insulation already holed. These holes can be felt through the covering,
so then it's just a case of making a cross with a blade and there's the
mount.
With the seat squabs removed and the armrest halfway down, the centre
ones can just about be found. They're on the vertical steel below the
armrest.
The outer, lower ones are much higher than I'd expected, which is why I
hadn't found them before (and probably why campingstoveman hasn't
either). They're an inch or two above the bottom of the seat back so are
hidden when its in place.
Rear belts from a BMW 3 series fit very nicely.
