Not one I can place.

Nor me and while I'm willing to stand corrected, I'm not entirely convinced
that it is a car badge.

Context is all.

I'm sure it's a badge *off* a car. Whether it's a badge *of* a car (marque)
is another question.

My suspicion is that it could well be - but 'merkin.

Intersting thoughts chaps. I'm doing this on behalf of someone else who
is clearing out their loft, so I can;t say for certain it is a marque.

It looks a bit like a city coat of arms to me.

It might be worth asking in a heraldry NG.

Bedford is the same as Vauxhall, a Griffin (IIRC) or one of the other
mythical beasts.

Another guess that the rootes group had something like this that lion
and the swordes. Used the swords in the hillman badge.
