Default 308 GTS, 24961 - 06-01-2006 , 09:55 PM

Hi,

I'm researching the story/history/provenance of this lovely car, and I
wonder if anyone here can add to the wonderfully colorful history of
its birth and journey?

Here or "24961 @ earthlink . com"

Thanks,
Mark

You can get a username and password at www.owners.ferrari.com if you supply
copies of documents. Then you can apply for a sort of heritage thing.

"The Owners' Site gives you the opportunity of obtaining a Heritage
Certificate for the car you own in pdf format.
Just fill in the form with the details required and send in your request.
After carrying out the necessary checks, Ferrari will release the form that
certifies the conformity of the chassis and engine number of the car.
Heritage Certificates are available for all carburettor models produced up
until 1980. In a few isolated instances it may not be possible to check all
the relevant information, and in such cases Ferrari is unable to provide the
certificate."

Thank you.

I'm leaving that to the owner for now, it must be fun.

In a day or two I'll ask Ferrari for a researcher's login.

Thanks,
Mark

No spam.

A request for information.

The car is no longer for sale having recently been purchased.

It's not my website, I merely have no photos of my own, yet...

I am assisting the new owner in further researching the car's
provenance, which already is considerable: I thought I'd spare him
the odium of dealing with usenet's legions of knuckle walking mouth
breathers.

You wish your Deawoo was in such good shape.

So, you *didn't* recognize the '78 Ferrari F1-team's livery?

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my request but, clearly,
you have nothing to contribute.

Nothing more than you've got.

"Custom 308s" aren't terribly unique. Special orders were very common,
a few of them came through the shop from time to time. I will say tho'
that this car seems in exceptional condition. I hope the new owner uses
it more than the previous one did. 21k miles in 18 years? 308s need
to be driven!

The paperwork's interesting. "Export Not Taxable"? "Used car"?? The
July date on the invoice is spot on for the build date of a car with
that s/n, so other than test miles the car wasn't "used". As the car's
also priced below the 1978 MSRP all of it could just be a tax dodge and
a bit of a price discount as a favor for a company employee.

Anyone, it looks a great car. I hope it's enjoyed!

T308

It's no "hill climb special", but there's a story here worth looking
into.

Feels like brand new.

I think he's already upped his insurance mileage maximum.

I figured that as well, there's a bit about "experimental department"
and there appears nothing experimental going on at all.

If it would stop raining here!

Thanks!
