Default Finally got my 308 back yesterday. - 12-15-2006 , 09:37 AM

....no steering racks are available, so I had to wait for a re-con unit.
Anyway, the steering is less Land Rover and more Ferrari now. Of course
the horn compressor had also failed and one front calliper needed
replacing (another re-con unit, cos you can't get those either). Anyway,
at least she brakes in a nice straight line now.

And the winner is....

.... a shade over £800 (that's $1,600 to you 'Merkins). <sigh>

P.S. Good job I get a discount or it would have been over a grand.

I haven't seen a fresh steering rack in years. The calliper is a
suprise tho'. Just think about those poor folks who have 360s in about
twenty years. What a mess they'll be in...

Friggin' exchange rate. I shan't be able to visit you if this keeps

did you try superformance at Romford? they are listing new racks at 325
pounds, quick action racks at 205 pounds.
calipers at 185 each
http://www.superformance.co.uk/308/308brakes.htm
I should be getting my 308 on the road soon, so any useful info to impart to
a fresh owner in Essex?

Yes, drive it ;-)

....especially in the Alps!

....and if it needs some TLC, QV are your first port of call (unless you're a
competent mech, of course!)

P.S. who is starting to sound like an ad for a certain garage.
