In the uk which might be a very good, recommended grade and make of oil for
a low mileage 308 gt4, please.

How do you use the car? Any track days? Average temps?

In this day & age the best oil you can buy is a full synthetic - something
like Mobil 1 etc. However its not always the best thing to put in older
engines because its not unknown for synthetic oil to find its way past oil
seals that were previously tight & onto your garage floor. From the last
discussion I saw on this (on www.ferrarichat.com) there seems to be about a
1 in 3 chance that switching to synthetic will cause oil leaks.

If the thing already has synthetic in it then carry on using it. If it
doesn't then a good semi-synthetic is the best compromise. A number of the
independent Ferrari specialists use Castrol Magnatec, some use Agip Sint2000
(as per the owner's manual). I've currently got some Mobil Super semi synth
in my 328 at the moment & it seems fine & I've used Magnatec as well in the
past & had no problems with that either.

Most important is to change the oil at least once a year regardless of what
you put in it.

For all you can eat on motor oil:

This is a good place to learn about the difference betrween a 10W40 and a
0W30 oil if you don't already know.
