I have a '93 Ford Ranger XLT V6 with 100K miles manual tranmission, and over the past year, the engine has started making a "clacking" noise which has become increasingly worse. It is now loud enough such that it can be heard even when the radio is on with low volume. It only occurs when accelerating or hill climbing; when coasting, slowing down, or going downhill the noise is significantly reduced. I am probably getting rid of the truck very soon, so I don't want to spend a lot of money repairing it. I assume that it is the valves and/or lifters sticking so I have tried putting 2 bottles of CD-2 at the last couple of oil changes but this hasn't helped much. I'm also thinking that the oil pump may be clogged. Any suggestions for getting rid of this noise so that I can sell it? Thanks in advance, Al Does it stop at all? Mine does the same thing when it's cold and after |
