99 Ranger noise

I have a 99 Ranger and when it is hot outside there is an annoying humming
noise coming from the engine. It only happens when I am stopped.Any
thoughts????

It's probably the cooling fan which engages at idle when the motor's hot.
When there's no air being forced through the grill, the fan(s) compensate.
