Default Check Engine Light - 11-03-2009 , 11:06 AM

Greetings,

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Whenever I get gas for my
2006 4 cylinder Ranger, the check engine light comes on the third time I
start it after filling. I then disconnect the battery cable to reset
the light and all is well. I've replaced the gas cap twice. Weird, huh?

Are you filling up to the nozzle cutoff only?
If not, this may be the cause.

Thanks Chuck, but no. I never put in more than half a tank. No need to
carry the extra weight driving in the city.

The next step is to get the code read. without it, you will just be
guessing.
A guess is that something is wrong with the evap control system.
