It appears I'm going to have to start hauling water sometime this
summer, so I'm going to start looking for a decent used Ford
pickup that will haul a 500 gallon plastic water tank.
Thats figures out at 4150 lb of water.
What model pickup would you suggest: i.e. F100, F150 etc.??
Thanks. Lee. |
Buy an f-250 and you will be safe.
4150lbs is just pretty close if not over for an F-150. It is all in the
rear end. If you can find an f-150 with 4:10 gears and a tranny cooler you
should be good to go. How far are you hauling this water? I still say an
F-250 is a good choice ... especially if it has 4:10s and a tranny
cooler.... then I think you could haul up to 10,000 lbs. I did research on
this when i went to buy a new truck.... F-100's are garbage for towing.
They don't even make them anymore.
