Is there a recommended replacement time for this filter? The truck has
96,000 miles.
Also,is this something I can replace myself? Where is it located?

The change interval all depends on whether you have flex fuel or just a
gasoline engine. Flex fuel trucks the interval is 25000mi and for regular I
believe its 50000mi. Either way, you are well over due for a fuel filter
change. While you are at it, run a can of Chevron fuel system cleaner
through the next tank of fuel to help keep the fuel system clean of buildup.

Yes you can replace it yourself, but if you dont feel comfortable doing it,
or havent before. I recommend having a friend who has done it before, help
you with it. Those little plastic clips on the hose connections can be a
real pain, and if you dont bleed pressure off the system before you start,
it will spew gas all over you.

If you break a clip its not a problem. Some filters come with replacements
but if not, you can buy them (usually) in 4 packs at the local parts store,
and it should include 2 different sizes. I always buy a pack when I replace
my fuel filter, if I dont have any left over from the time before, because I
usually break them. I am on my 4th filter in 112,000mi. At this point you
will probably notice a boost in power in your truck.. LOL

To relieve fuel pressure you can pull your fuel pump relay and start the
truck. It will bleed the fuel pressure down in the line. Then just put a rag
around the connection as you are pulling it apart, and hold the line up or
fuel will still run out. The nut on the frame is 13mm.

Location is below and just slightly behind the drivers door on the drivers
side frame rail. You have to lay on your back and slide under there. It will
be the round canister that is bolted to the frame with a hose coming out of
each end.
