Default electrical problem - 02-19-2007 , 08:02 AM

Hi gentlemen,
I really hope one of you can help. I have a 1997 F150, 8 cyl. standard
transmission. It's my late husbands truck But I've become very
attached.
The problem is with the following:
wipers
washers
headlight dimmer
headlight warning tone
interior light
and idiot check engine light on dash
none of the above are working. My son is trying to make the repairs.
We have checked the fuzes ( under hood and dash) he tried a new multi us
arm on steering column ( since three of the problems relate to that)
didn't work so apparently it's a problem of not getting power to those
things. But we are at a loss and really need help to track this
problem,

Thanks in advance, becasue Feb, in northeast Oh is no place to be
without wipers.

Ilene

I'd start with a voltage reading on fuses.

Did the 97 still have fuse links at the starter solenoid?
If so that is were I would start checking.

Sounds like my old Windstar...It was the ignition, so they said. I traded it
in.
