OK, the hot rumor in Monaco seems to be that that recent Jordan buyer
Alen Shnaider has soured on F1 and that a deal is close to closing in
which the team would be sold to a (different) collection of Russian
financial interests fronted by Eddie Irvine.

Certainly the Midland folks haven't *appeared* to be doing much to
leverage their investment this year. Smoke, mirrors, or...?

As useful loss for the business?
Suggestion is that Schaider hadn't really done his homework and is
shocked at the amount of his money it is going to cost to make the
team competitive. As I've always said, you can't do F1 with your own
money. It doesn't matter how rich you think you are, you can't afford
it......as Mr Abramovich recognised fairly rapidy a year or two back.

Also, there are some doubts as to just how much money the guy has
available in the first place. Apparently Eddie had to send round the
boys to close down the wind tunnel before he finally go paid for it.

Interesting article on Alex Shnaider in Globe and Mail's Report on
Business magazine -- June 2005 (but you have to register to read it).

And is it just me, or could this guy be Rubens Barrichello's brother?
The link above shows Shnaider on the cover. Judge for yourself. Kelsey
Grammer look out, you're being usurped!
