Default Abu Dhabi - 11-02-2009 , 04:12 AM

For those thinking of going next year, here are the views my Brother has
heard voiced by various friends who were there:

Quote:
Apparently, it was 75% full - lots of empty seats.

Well organised - but only if you had a car parking pass. Otherwise, it
was a series of bus journeys starting 5km away to get to the circuit.

We are not sure that there was alcohol on sale to people not in a
hospitality area.

They key question I asked was "would you go again?". The answer so far
has been no???
So, "get a driver and a hospitality pass" would be my advice.

According to the BBC it was a sellout - but then quite a lot of
hyperbole seemed to be spouted on the Beeb last weekend.

Much of the gushing was more like the Travel Show than sports coverage.

But then, even the Archers has lately appeared to be sponsored by AGA
Rangemaster Group PLC, flouting editorial guidelines. (See p. 119 "We
must not linger on brand names or logos and use verbal references
sparingly...")

As a sell out AbuDhabi hardly compares with a Silverstone crowd - 50,000??

To be fair Chris, AGA has become a generic term for that kind of cooking
range.. Irrespective of who actually made it !

True, but the little (little? 199 pages?) red book still doesn't allow
it. To use a brand name once is fine, but it was mentioned at least four
times over two episodes.

Claire Powell at compliance unit, are you reading this?? ;-)

Rayburn. Acquired by AGA way back when! There's also the ESSE, latest
versions are much more efficient than AGAs, and are wood burners. Wish I
could afford to get one, just cut another ash down and that's a couple
of months cooking and water heating...

"Range" is the old fashioned generic? All my old farm relatives had one.

How O/T can I get!!??

Rayburn... now part of AGA. Julia has one, and provided you also have a
gas wok-ring they are great.
