Default Driver Ratings #9 - Europe - 07-03-2003 , 03:35 AM

As part of the Grand Prix report in the UK magazine Autosport, Mark Hughes
awards marks out of 10 for each driver. He rates them on the whole weekend,
not just for the race, and winning (or finishing) the race doesn’t always
garner a high mark.

These were the driver ratings for the Nürburgring - points out of 10:

9 Räikkönen
8 M Schumacher, Montoya, Webber, Wilson, Button, Frentzen, R Schumacher,
Trulli
7 Alonso, Barrichello, Fisichella, Heidfeld, Panis, Verstappen
6 Coulthard, Firman, da Matta, Pizzonia
5 Villeneuve

Best of the season: Räikkönen (4), Wilson (5), Button (3), Frentzen (3),
Trulli (2) , Verstappen (6)

Worst of the season: Alonso, Coulthard (3), da Matta (2), Villeneuve

Not quite. He was best Bridgestone shod car, (Ferrari excluded), on the
Saturday first practice. One must assume that counts for something...

And being on the edge. Fer sure.

JV was looking like he might get the first token zero of the year.
Rotten in qualifying, rotten in the race., and clearly didn't want to be
there.

One each for showing up, qualifying and for every day
that you don't run over somebody.

He probably wouldn't reply, but in an attempt to pre-empt what stance he
would take, I will now play the devil's advocate...

These figures are based on opinions of Autosport staff, and therefore
have no basis in fact. Plus let's not forget that JPM writes a column
in Autosport, and these 'opinions' could be slightly generous towards
their collegue. Mr Fisher has have a whole plethora of statistical
facts that prove the opposite is closer to the truth.

Ugh! I feel dirty now! :-p

I agree in principle, but I could not help myself from yanking his
chain. Also, I would contend that the opinions delivered in Autosport
are possibly more balanced and certainly more informed than our mate
Fisher.
