Fernando: Youth Looks Marvelous! -

No apologies for the Billy Crystal reference.
Finally a legitimate and worthy champion, only the fifth in the past
ten years (JV, MH x2, and Backmarker in 2003). The youngest ever, but
then again, Kimi is not much older than Fitipaldi was when EF set the
record. We've got a decade of these two battling to look forward to,
not to mention Kovaleinen, Piquet Jr. and maybe Speed to toss in. It
could be a decade to rival the best decade in F1 history
(Prost/Senna/Mansell/Piquet).
For those complaining about the points systems, Raikkonen would still
be alive, but only by a thread. Under 9-6-4-3-2-1, 'Nando is one point
away. Under 10-6-4-3-2-1, three points. Face it, 'Nando won.
And one more thing: Michael Backmarker, 0 for 17 in 2005. Luckily he
didn't ruin this race with another crash like he did at Spa. Toyota is
still ahead of Ferrari (Indy was a farce, not a race) despite their
poor perfomance yesterday. |
