Hang on, since when did Formula One stop being Win At All Costs? Did
I miss a memo, or something?

As far as I remember Ferrari didn't test in the Summer break last
year.......and if this is the case.....your business opinion is a farce.
Bullshit.

They were dumping on everyone. What testing was needed?

Learn logic. Your statement is ridiculous.

As far as I'm aware the 3 week testing brake was actually an agreement
the teams had which ended last year. It was never agreed to happen this
year as the teams went off on their own without inviting ferrari to sign
the 30 day limit to sabotage Bridgestone :P

Are the tech regs for 2006 fixed well enough that they could be testing
/next/ year's car? That's what I'd be concentrating on if I was Ferrari,
since little short of divine intervention will stop Alonso and Renault
taking the honours this year.

agreed to it - but this August moritorium on testing has been there for years.
The August ban was first introduced into the Regs. in 2001 - it was removed
for 2002. I'd assume that the ban was detailed elsewhere, with the CA being
the most logical location. However, if it was/is in the CA then Ferrari
couldn't ignore it?

If there's no agreement, pray tell why Ferrari have not tested through
the 3-week break for the past few years, you fucking imbecile.

One can only imagine the vitriol you'd be spewing if a non-Scuderia
team was testing right now.

Don't you think it's a bit absurd? Perhaps because I'm an American and
we don't get August off, but think of how silly it would be for Man U.
to take three weeks off from practice in the middle of the run-up to
the World Cup.
Americans will never really understand Soccer, will they?

While the other teams honour the August testing ban, which has been in

There is no "August testing ban" as part of F1.

No, there is no ban
....So shut the fuck up.

- but all the teams have adhered to "no testing in
August" for years & no doubt a number of them could have benefited from
doing some testing during the summer break in recent years - but they didn't
break the "agreement"

Just because you have a few teams agreeing to fuck off for the month while
more serious times try to actually improve their
cars is not in any way a Ferrari problem.

....but I doubt it will win them many friends in the paddock - and one day
they might need them. The Ferrari "win at all costs" attitude is only good
for Ferrari & does nothing for F1 or any concept that there might be any
sportsmanship left in it. Of course its a business but to thrive as a
business it needs to at least still show a semblance of being a sport.
That's what the punters buy into.
McLaren and Williams engineered the death of the notion of
sportsmanship in F1 at Jerez in 1997. McLaren taught everyone but the
retards that Ron' will be done at Australia '98.

Quote:
Luca Badoer will be joined by Michael Schuamcher for the following 2
weeks when Ferrari run concurrent tests at Monzo and their private
track in Fiorano to 'prepare tyres for Turkey and Monza.'

Sounds like a good idea if they want to perform well.

Sounds like desparation. What would have been a good idea would to have been
to have developed the F2005 in time for the start of the season. Quite how
they have managed to drop the ball so badly when they were so far ahead last
year is still a mystery to me.
Team England had a huge head start on the firm and actual regulations
for 2005.

Quote:
They had both the WC's wrapped up way early
last year & in theory had more time than anyone else to start working on
this year's car. Who knows, maybe it took the Italian postal service 3
months to deliver the new regs to Maranello!
Rather it took three months for Ron to pass them along.

QEFuckingD on the vitriol.

It's not in the sporting regs, yet it is a well published agreement,
reached between the teams (and Max & Bernie), to which the teams have
adhered for a number of years. Lord only knows *why* they have adhered
to it but they have.

Please point me to a site detailling Ferrari's testing dates over the
past 3 years and tell me why they have done no testing during this
summer break which you think is a figment of the British Tabloid
imagination. And remember, my little fuckwitted friend, there's
nothing in the sporting regs to have stopped them in the past ...
