Default Kobayashi set for 2010 Toyota drive? - 11-01-2009 , 02:09 PM

Collecting points for Toyota in only his second race certainly makes him
deserving.

Though collecting other drivers may make some think twice.

He's definitely the most exciting new driver in a while, especially since
he's not afraid to have ago at the 'big boys'.

Yep, I was hoping that Toyota would make his drive permanent as he will
certainly make next season a bit more interesting in more ways than one!

Not to dampen your enthusiasm but it is not rare for a wild card to
demonstrate an apparent ability that does not translate when in a full
time drive. I think of Wurz being like that when he first got the odd
drive. It is sometimes similar with those showing early promise.
Rubens, Jensen and Rosberg come to mind as some that showed some early
exuberance and flashes of talent that became somewhat stifled.

With up to 26 cars on the grid I'd be surprised if there wasn't a place
for a driver who has inspired so much interest though.

Alas, this thread is now irrelevant!

Martin Brundle did make a similar comment about how performing over a
whole season is a rather different matter to shining in a few races,
but now that Toyota are withdrawing from F1 we may never know what he
would be like.
