The "right" gearing kinda sneaks up on it and defeats drag, no? You mean it jumps out from behind a hedge and blasts drag away with an M16 or something? No, a shrubbery. It provides a two-level effect with a little path running down the middle that defeats drag, overcoming aerodynamics. |

The difference is that in F1 the rule changes *always* affect every team in exactly the same way, whereas in this case it appears that Audi are being unfairly penalised. |

You do spout a lot of bollocks Brian. The difference is that in F1 the rule changes *always* affect every team in exactly the same way, whereas in this case it appears that Audi are being unfairly penalised. I say 'appears' because there is a difference in how a normal petrol engine operates compared to its diesel counterpart; I assume the egg-heads have worked out the new rules for petrol engines by working out the notional difference. (Think about the old F1 days when Renault appeared on the grid with their turbo, and immediately scared the pants off everyone else; IIRC the FIA at that time legislated to make a rule that specified engine capacities so that normally aspirated engines could compete fairly with the turbos). |

That, though, doesn't mean it's right to introduce them mid-season. It seems you need to make a visit to your GP to have that broom-handle removed from your backside. -- Cheers, Probert. |
