Do you have Pune (nice city, 2.5 hrs drive taking expressway from
Mumbai, also the home for TATA Motors, which rolled out UK's much
loved (MG Rover) CityRover :P ) in your itinerary? If yes, and you
have some spare time, we could meet and I could take you out to
some nice hangout places, treat you with some fine Indian beer and
meanwhile munching and absorbing on as much possible of that fine
motorsport content stored in you... (I may not be upto it, but I
can certainly try!) :-)

(BTW, Bangalore (nor Pune) is the real home for curry! And you
Brits, stop using the slang "curry" for Indian cuisine...!)

This trip is just Bangalore. My project manager here is from Pune,
though, and I think originally used to work for Tata there. Strangely
enough we were talking about the expressway tonight and he reckons
he's done Pune-Mumbai in under two hours. Then again he was a biker...

I'm pretty sure my grandfather served in/near Pune in the 30s when he
was in the Royal Horse Artillery.

I'm using 'curry' as shorthand for the barbarians. To describe every
dish that's been put before me this week would be far too
time-consuming. And I'd just be using the word 'drool' far too many
times

Ooo, I love the tea in India!

You're in Pune? I have a good friend in Mumbai (we were there in March,
he's coming to Europe in September), and have been in Pune as well.

I'm quite fond of south-Indian food, to the dismay of my friend who is a
Parsee and thinks north-Indian food is much better :-)

He was here last year as well, for the curious:

Often free, with project meetings included ;P Here, Rs30 for a big pot from
room service, I'm just finishing another one now

Yeah, my home town! :-)

If anyone ever happens to visit it, read this first:
http://wikitravel.org/en/Pune

Its strangely missing an entry in nicknames section, which
should be "Home of the die-hard motorsports fan"

The only place in India where civilian and airforce crafts use
the same space to operate! Don't be surprised if you see yourself
standing next to a Sukhoi or a Jaguar after you land in Pune! :-)

Yes, my project manager was saying that at Pune you're often delayed
while a whole squadron takes off - worst case you get diverted to Mumbai
while the air force play with their toys
