Explain, using FIFA's rulebook, how the goal wasn't offside. Use still
images if you like.

the game can never truly be described as "beautiful".
Personally, I can't see how the spectacle of 22 sweaty blokes kicking
an inflated pig's bladder round a field could *ever* be described as
"beautiful"... :-)

Yes.

It's nothing but taunting.
No, but some players do taunt. They also get their face smashed every
now and then and nobody, including their team mate, have much pitty for
them.

Taunting some guy into head-butting you is a gutsy move. Taking one for
the team to get their best player out of the lineup is anything but
cowardly.
It's, moronic. Juvenile at best. And it will get your face smashed
every now and then and nobody, including your team mates, will have
much pitty for you.

Anyway, it's Soccer. The game is over, and nobody gives a fuck, any
more. You're not going to change a damn thing by whining any further.

Well past time to move on.

Stop replying to him then ? I'm actually suprise that in a Head-but VS
Taunting match you would take the taunting side. But then again, you're
the same guy that flexes his muscles on usenet but can't be bothered to
enlist.

Zidane. Perhaps Cannavaro will grow into a giant too, but he's got a way
to go.
He's 32 years old or something like that, and has already said he
won't be playing in 2010. Having said that, he *is* the best defender
I've ever seen (and I have seen...well... very few, actually).

I'm no soccer fan, so perhaps it's because I'm not used to that kind
of stuff, but seeing someone headbutt (or punch, kick, shoot, maim,
clobber, you name it) someone else during a feckin' game makes me feel
bad for mankind. The fact that ZZ went for the chest rather than the
head, however, somewhat restores a glimpse of hope.

Yeah, "Materazzi hurts people", says the italian press. Two wrongs
don't make a right, though.

ADP.

To what?

It's the usual Frusciante dirge... support the biggest cheat, support
the biggest thug, no matter what.

The biggest thug was the head-butter. LT clearly does not support him.

Yours is the typical game. You beknight the cheat, then call the true
player the cheater as a smoekscreen.

Don't be a moron, Brian. Whoops, too late.

Any player taunting is certainly not a "true player",

Go fuck yourself, son of a terrorist whore.

Well you see, if you said that to me in public, you would be busy
picking up your joints and trying to put them back in place so you
could go home and reapir the rest of you. If you said that to me on
the field, i'd walk past you and ask you to meet me after the match
and repeat it, since i know it's just a taunt for the game.
Either way, you would still be a fuckwit for doing it..

I've played soccer for just over 10 years in Europe and i know more
about it than you can ever imagine to learn.
The taunting that goes on, only effects those who are stupid or
mentally weak.
The taunters themselves are a sack of shit, whom most players and even
their own look down on. It's a dirty defender's "tool" and strikers
are taught from the age of 4 to ignore it.
The only reason the taunting goes on is because the team will not
generally let their own player be bashed up. So any altercation will
be a short slap or kick and the next thing you know, you have 6-7
players from each side converging and pulling their own players away.
Nobody wants their own players sent off.
And that is what makes it cowardly. If you have the guts to call
someone something to his face, then you have guts. If you do it only
when you have your mob with you, then you're as tough as any twat
walking the streets with his gang.

This still isn't entirely clear. When asked by the journalist who was
interviewing him if the English tabloids had got it right, via the
lipreaders etc. he replied: "ben, oui" (well, yes). If you insult a
French-Arab and specifically mention terrorism, it seems to me you're
voluntarily straying pretty close to racism. Or anti-semitism (in the
original sense of the word).

Whatever.

My take is this : Zidane screwed up. He let the heat of the moment get
to him, and his notoriously short fuse ignited. He should've sorted it
out off the pitch.

Nonetheless, I shed no tears for Materazzi. Players like him, who use
those kinds of tactics and worse, deserve everything they get. In fact
they deserve more than they get. They deserve to go the way of the
dinosaurs.
