Speaking personally, my thoughts are with all of you on the other side
of the pond. A sad, sad day :-(

there will be some serious repercusions over this, the va tech authorities
made every wrong choice and their lack of actions got and extra 30 killed
and as many wounded.
there was a very early shooting. the shooter was not apprehended nor the
campus locked down. it was 2HOURS LATER that the real massacre began.
they assumed the shooter had left the campus and thought the event was over.
the campus rent-a-pigs did nothing other than begin stopping and searching
students trying to flee while the shooter was still killing.

You appear to be making a lot of assumptions. Rather than relying on your
yammering, I believe I'll wait for the investigation to go forward and hope
we can find out what really did happen. I don't believe you have special
knowledge on the subject.

i don't. but i did see the college president give his press conference.

he said they assumed the first 2 killings were domestic and the shooter had
fled the campus. that they "had no idea" the killer was still around.

Making a sensible comment instead, it sounds like a major difference
with this shooting compared to others is that the gunman didn't have a
rifle/sub-machine gun, but only a couple of pistols. Initially this
would seem less efficient, but in fact I suspect it was how he was able
to kill so many. Once you start walking around with a rifle, it is easy
to identify you and take you down - even if you put it in a big duffle
bag. On the other hand, the pistols could be easily concealed in a coat
or backpack - and this is how he was able to move around without being
identified and stopped much earlier.

My sympathies to anyone affected who views this.

But whatever happens let's hope America doesn't overreact and ban these
killing machines their citizens treat as toys. Far better to say, bomb the
killer's country of origin.

Murderers prefer disarmed victims.
Murderers prefer guns.
Murderers want more guns.
Idiots help them by preferring their toys to peace.

More guns would have prevented this.
This is why warzones have such high property values presumably.

The incredible gall to argue that more weapons means less violence says
all you need to know about the gun lobby.

idiots make us smarter?

With the rate of escalation in your country you'll need to dress in
armour plating and carry short range nuclear weapons. And when the man
attacks you has a bulletproof vest and your shots do nothing?

So go ahead - 'defend yourself'..

Do you think could this have happened if he didn't have a gun?

Blaming guns for this shooting, or any other, is like blaming spoons
for Rosie O'Donnell being fat.
