replay a couple of times to realize there was no physical contact
between him and the italian chap - no way the ref could have spotted
it on field. Bravo to him, I say, because since diving is - and has
been for a long while now - part of how they play the game,
complaining is pretty useless.

But that's different. There *was* contact betweenthe players: the fact that the italian stumbled over the helpless,
I-have-nowhere-to-go Aussie defender doesn't make it a proper dive;
rather an incorrect ref call.

turns out, had nothing to do with race or terrorism or anything like
that, but originated from a harmless (in my circles) reference to the
guy's sister. I mean, sheesh.
Remember four years ago? Italy was the target of some incredibly bad
refereeing, and a certain Byron Moreno is still hated by the entire
boot-shaped country. Or Maradona's "hand of god" against egland in
1986... Now THAT was controversy - this year's championships have been
utterly bland in comparision.

possibly all three.
Have you ever seen a goal from an offside position? Ever heard what an
offside is ? if not, have a look at Toni's goal, it's a perfect example.

You foreigners also have some hard-on for Italy. It's the most important country in the history of the world, producing the best food, music, and art, is the home of Christianity and is responsible for a healthy bit of the world's industrial innovation. Those centuries of success piss you off. Me, I like Italy and thank it for making the world a more interesting place. Reggiano Parmesan, Parma prosciutto, spicy calabrese, etc. make a trip to a deli so worthwhile. |

talking about some very dear relatives of yours, but Australian football
team has shown to Italians who has a bigger dick and if the game was
played fairly, especially refereeing part, they would very likely reach
the semi-finals and lose to Germany.
I guess that spanish referee is driving a bran spanking new ferrari now.
