Hungaroring, Magny-Cours, Catalunya.

At the risk of being flamed, apart from the above 3, I wouldn't
really mind if San Marino, Shanghai and Fuji are missing too in the
season calendar.

I don't think you'll get flamed for any of those.

Is Fuji so bad? I understand that is inferior to Suzuka, but since I
haven't seen any race there, I really don't know. Why does it deserve to
be axed?

I don't know how bad it will be, but the layout is pathetic compared to
Suzuka. A HUGE front straight and then a Tilke-technical back section
(pun intended? maybe...) will make for something fairly similar to the
current USGP: one place to pass with the rest of the circuit being
boring as all hell.

Also, while I cannot find the article I'm thinking of, I remember some
scathing comments about the infrastructure (or lack of it) leading to
the circuit. The logistics for the teams could be a nightmare.

Even if there's nothing wrong with it, it hasn't much in the way of F1
history, certainly none in its present form or in recent years. And it's
been Tilke'd which is a recipe for boring race tracks, more often than
not. I still mourn the loss of Hockenheim - to me it never mattered that
there wasn't much overtaking, because the combination of high speed
running through the forest and tiptoeing through the stadium was just so
exciting to watch, especially in the rain. If Fuji can produce something
like that, then it will prove that it has character, but no one seems
particularly excited about it.

I thought Tilke had only messed with the very last corner, which, to
be realistic, was an enormously fast long right-hander with no runoff
at all. Has he meddled with all the corners?

Also, while the Indy track is bad, I think the idea behind is correct.
A racetrack should have a combination of a very long straight and a
series of slower corners, so that the teams have to compromise on the
setup of the car, and hopefully giving a greater chance of overtaking.

Small price to pay if it's a fun track. Small price to me, that is...

....Only one of the most exciting championship deciders ever. It's a
bit tough to make history when you're not part of the championship
season.

I'll second San Marino. It's a tight fight between Imola and
Hungaroring for most boring track of the season if you ask me. I
don't mind Magny-Cours, bellow average but not the bottom of the pack.
Catalunya is normally in the same boat, though it definitely gets my
vote for most boring RACE of the 2006 season.

As for Shanghai, it's a bit odd, that's for sure, but at least it's
something a tiny bit different. Besides, cancelling the GP of China
is absolutely NOT an option! I am quite certain that that race is BY
FAR the most profitable for the teams. Fuji is unknown to me, the
last time they raced there was before my F1 days.

So, my vote for races to dump, in the following order:

1. Imola
2. Hungaroring
3. Catalunya

Ohh, just checked the scheduled, looks like Imola's already got the
cut! Guess that moves Hungaroring to the top of the chopping block.

Without doubt, the Hungaroring is the most boring race of the season
(Moanco?).

I don't mind Imola too much, apart from the memories.

I also know nothing of Fuji, but I sure as hell will miss Suzuka.

Nope. Monaco is fun + very technical. And should there be a top
car starting from the back, we know what that brings

Have you ever seen Monaco from an onboard view? It's awesome.

BTW, welcome back!

I actually meant the whole race in onboard view. Premiere feed.

I agree with what you say, but it can be a very boring "race".

Oh, and thankyou!

Damn dial-up crap.
