1. The tap was to get his attention - there was no risk of decapitation..
2. Sato has - shall we say - a track record, and his driving has been
brought up in driver's meetings.
3. Michael - like everyone else, has a right to be pissed off. Much more
than you sitting in judgement.

You should move on..

And if it had been Montoya in that situation rather than
Michael - Sato would have needed a new helmet.

Based on what ? I don't recall JPM having a go at another driver.
He usually gives a nasty look and walks away, as he did when Pizzi
stuffed his solid 2nd place with a few laps to go.

Mind you, i see nothing wrong with the incident and it's nice to see a
bit of natural reaction from an F1 driver.. a brawl a'la Piquet is
perhaps too much, but this was nothing but venting a bit of steam.
It may have even saved Michael's helmet bouncing off two walls in the
garage.. as it did once.

If that is what you call a slap. he tapped Sato on the visor. big deal.
didn't Senna the Almighty punch Irvine the Cad?
i wonder
would all the anti Michael people in here
would feel great joy were he killed in a race. i'll bet hypocrisy would
reign were that to happen and they would be singing his praises.

Several years ago when Michael was at his sportsmanship worst, I would not
have been surprised
had he caused someone's death on the track.
For all his great driving, he was a shitty sport, and a kamikaze driver.
Karma owes him a few undeserved
whacks on the peepee.

(True, Michael would
prefer to torpedo other drivers amidships;>)

It was in heavy rain, there was a lot of mist and he drove right up DC's
roostertail. Then claimed
Coulthard was trying to kill him.

Really, you don't say. I've never heard of this incident, please tell me
more...

Monza, 1998.
Michael got pretty hot. Shot his mouth off about David's competence,
motives, etc.

Finally they got together and settled it.

Monza, eh?

It is amazing how Michael and DC crashed in the mist, yet Michael went
on to win the race and DC retired with an engine failure on that
beautiful early Autumn day...

(Pssst. You might mean Spa...)

LOL

Though it will be disputed i remember MS could not see HHF and the
team did not warn him.

I don't doubt it, I can't imagine any driver could do that
deliberately to another driver they were not directly racing at the
time. However, don't they wave blue flags coming out of the pitlane?
Yes, and for unknown reasons the flagman was not at the end of pitlane
to warn Schumacher.

Might be. Thought it was Monza, but a slip of the mind, like a slip of the
tongue, can get you
off into deep caca...;>)
