Yeah but a superpilot might pull it back from there...and his odds for the WDC are bound to have lengthened giving Bob another chance to lump on. Agreed. --it will be interesting to see if he can drive a mature race and put that Ferrari back where it appears to belong - Agreed. There is more room for strategy to help a car recover from poor qualifying this year. I'd be happy to read you explain more on that. In the main I am simply referring to the mandatory use of both compounds and that it may be possible to switch to a vastly different strategies without being compromised as much as when on a single compound. How much flexiblity there is will depend on individual tracks and conditions. E.g. if both compounds are relatively hard, long lasting, there are not as many options as if one is soft and the other hard there will be more. Putting it simply there will be less of a penalty when choosing to run long on hard or shorter on soft, but the variation in speeds will be greater than possible last year. The SC is also bound to have more of an impact because of this variation. One example; last year a SC towards the last stint may have seen the front runners all put on new boots and head for the flag. This year the car in front may not only lose it lead but find itself on hard rubber with his rival on soft now right on his gearbox. It might just make the difference, especoially when you consider the difficulty some cars have getting heat back into the tyres. You can't plan for SCs but you can have contingencies. (2 hours sleep last night so if that rambles or doesn't make sense so be it. I need to get a few things done before I can get some shuteye ahead of the race so I shan't even attempt to edit it.) Just in case no-one's noticed - we now have a mandatory pitstop for the first time. At the risk of repeating myself - Bollocks! |

This is not done. Are we looking at a possibility of the grid returning to 10 teams in Sepang? |
