Default {Spoilers} The Super Aguris and the Hondas - 03-17-2007 , 03:39 AM

So, which are the real Hondas?

Not only Sato finished 10th, but Davidson is 11th, while Button is only
14th and Barrichello 17th.

And during all the quali session, the Super Aguris show that they are no
longer backmarkers, while the Hondas made a pathetic impression
(reinforced by being the ugliest livery on the track).

In the Spanish television, they commented that after Q1, the Spyker team
filed a protest against the Super Aguris, claiming that the Super Aguris
are last years' Hondas (more information at
http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/57421). We'll see how
finishes this quarrel.

I was under the impression this would be sorted at the initial
scrutineering. Is it a case that someone needs to lodge a formal protest
first? Anyone going to protest the STR also?
According to Pitpass, the scrutineers are not under any obligation to
identify the manufacturer of the car, only that it passes the rules. The
issue of who built it is a legal one relating to the Concorde Agreement
and will have to go to arbitration.

I think the situation with the Aguris driving circles around "the proper
Hondas" proves that in the last months Honda have wasted time and money
developing their current car. Super Aguri takes a 2006 Honda and the car
works, I would not be surprised if Honda protested Aguri's results :-)) Or
when Honda demands their 2006 car back from Aguri because it works, and
Aguri says "nope, you can't have it, it's in use".

According to the commentators on Speed, Sir Frank Williams was already
prepared to protest Super Aguri, STR, *and*, Red Bull. Aguri & STR for
using customer cars, and Red Bull for using a car designed by someone
who does not work for the team. Newey works for a separate company
called Red Bull Technology (I think...someone who was paying 100%
attention can say for sure what the company name is) and not Red Bull
Racing.

Yep. When I first saw the still shots, I thought, "meh, that's OK.
Not great but OK."

Now that I've seen what they look like in the live TV coverage, wow -
those are fugly fugly cars.

One of the announcers on SPEED channel said that Honda is paying the
company that developed that sponsor-free livery $200000 per month for
their services.

Ouch.
