My last bike did 0-100 kph in under 3 seconds.... you could strap
nitrous and a blower to that vette, it would still be looking at
the bikes taillight..

All the way to the first sharp corner Although... do Corvettes
actually handle these days or are they still rubbish?

Heh! The fanny-line on my Triumph goes from rim-to-rim.

They are cheap, they feel cheap and you can buy faster (and less
embarrassing) cars cheaper.

Don't worry, I'm not going to buy one. The last time I had the
opportunity to sit in a Vette I didn't fit. I could either keep my knees
free from the steering wheel, or depress the clutch, but not both at
once. I guess you have to be a shortarse...

For the non-bikers, the construction of a motorcycle tyre is such that
the surface in contact with the road has to be sufficient to ensure
grip when the 'bike is leaning into/out of a corner, so it's extremely
convex. Where the tyre contacts the road it becomes "grainy" and matt,
whereas the surface which never touches the road remains shiny.

The "fanny-line" is the line between the matt area and the shiny area,
and the further you actually lean int/out of a corner will move the
fanny line nearer the rim. So if the fanny-line goes from rim-to-rim it
means that every part of the tyre other than the sidewall has been in
contact with the road. Relatively easy on a modern sports bike like the
R1, but on my Thunderbird-Sport it's quite a feat to lean so far into a
corner as to have a fanny-line which goes from rim-to-rim.

Lamborgini's open 2-seater Murcielago is heavier than Mercedes' biggest
S-class 4-door 5-seater luxo-barge --- duh?

Does anyone know of other "fat" sports and GT cars?

3734 lb -- not quite 2 tons. But when you've got 617 hp, who cares?
